What We BelieveCovenantal - Non-creedal
Members, friends, and visitors do not need to adhere to formal creed or statement of faith in our community. As Congregationalists we walk with one another in a church setting that is also a part of the United Church of Christ. UCC congregations are free to tend to their own affairs, beliefs, and practices in covenant with the greater domination and sibling churches. This is our Covenantal Statement at Cadillac First Congregational Church - UCC: "On our spiritual journey… We, the faith family of the Cadillac First Congregational United Church of Christ, gather as a Christian church to learn from the teachings of Jesus; to encourage a consciousness of our relationship with God; to inspire truth and a passion for enthusiastic service; and to give generously and willingly to the congregation and beyond. We walk in fellowship to express God’s spirit of hospitality, to pray, and to work for unity. With heartfelt inclusiveness, our doors are open. We actively build a community of unwavering compassion and courageous hope, where all are seen and known, and the God of Extravagant Love is revealed…" Ethic of Unity “Wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here” Acceptance We are a spiritually diverse congregation. We embrace our religious, political, economic and social diversity. We make every effort to be non-judgmental and supportive of each other. Community for All We are committed to providing assistance to those in need and supporting organizations in our community that facilitate this effort. Service to others comes in many forms: time, money, material or even a friendly ear. In community, YOU really can make a difference! Breaking down Barriers We strive to be a welcoming safe haven for those who come here. This requires our awareness and effort to remove any barriers to developing quality relationships. These barriers could be discriminatory policies, prejudicial attitudes or ostracizing treatment. These barriers could be physical, such as a need for wheelchair ramps or the availability of sign language service. |
